BOZEMAN - Appearing with the help of interpreters, three women, two in their 50s and the third 70 years old, appeared in Gallatin County Justice Court via video, charged with promoting prostitution at two Belgrade spas.
Ok Nan Tennette, 70, and Jihong "Lilly" Yu, 51, are accused of offering sexual favors for money. The third woman, Yu-Sun Gasperi, 52, was reportedly just staying at the VIP Spa at 107 South Broadway in Belgrade, but according to county attorney James Greenbaum, she can still be charged for living in a house of prostitution.
The case involves two businesses - the Beijing Spa and VIP Spa. Following the arrests, the businesses were closed. Neighbors said they became suspicious when they started seeing only men going in and out of the businesses.
The three were arrested after a confidential informant went into the businesses and was reportedly offered sexual favors in exchange for money.
"The information was received through confidential informant, electronic surveillance by body wires pursuant to a search warrant and a search warrant of the premises," Greenbaum said.
According to court papers, all three women were living at the businesses at well.
Yu was reportedly the proprietor of the Beijing Spa. During a search at that spa at 309 South Broadway, police found used condoms made of cellophane food wrap in the outside garbage, according to court documents. Yu was assisted in court by an interpreter of Mandarin Chinese.
Tennette and Gasperi were reportedly living at the VIP Spa at 107 South Broadway. Police reportedly found condoms hidden near the front desk of the business as well as money hidden between the pages of books on the front counter. Tennette and Gasperi were helped by a Korean interpreter during their court appearances.
The women are all being held in the Gallatin County Detention Center on $50,000 bail.
Their preliminary hearings are set for Aug. 16.
