GREAT FALLS, MT - Jenna Van Delden was sentenced on Thursday to 10 years with the Montana Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to having sex with a 13-year old boy over a period of several months.
The ten-year sentence does not include any suspended portions.
The charges against her included sexual intercourse without consent, custodial interference, and tampering with evidence.
Van Delden harbored a 13-year old boy who reportedly had ran away from home in September 2012; he was found at Van Delden's home in January 2013.
Judge Sandefur also ordered Van Delden to pay restitution of more $4,000 and be listed as a Level 1 sex offender, which indicates that she's at risk to re-offend.
Van Delden reportedly wrote a letter to the victim from jail, detailing plans for the two to run away to Virginia together.
(January 18, 2013) Jenna Van Delden has been arrested for the second time in three days in connection with allegedly harboring a runaway teenager in her Great Falls home and is now facing more criminal charges.
The 13-year old boy was reported as a runaway on September 17, 2012, and was found safe on Tuesday at Van Delden's home on Chowen Springs Loop in Great Falls; he was hiding underneath a bunk bed in a second floor bedroom of the residence.
Van Delden, 25, was arrested and charged at the time with custodial interference, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
On Thursday evening, Van Delden was arrested again and is now facing four charges of sexual intercourse without consent and one charge of tampering with evidence.
Court documents state that Van Delden and the teen have both admitted that they were involved in a sexual relationship, and Van Delden told an investigator that she "truly loved" the teen.
The court document states that after bonding out of jail for the initial charges, Van Delden went to the Juvenile Detention Center where the teen was being held in order to check on his well-being.
When she was told that she could not see him, she requested that she be allowed to have her wedding ring and a heart-shaped ring that she had given to the teen.
