DILLON - A wildland fire is burning five miles west of Wise River along Highway 43, threatening multiple structures in the area.
The Pioneer Fire is estimated at 40-45 acres and is burning on private and Bureau of Land Management land, according to a news release from the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The cause of the fire is unknown.
The fire has crossed Highway 43. Travelers in the area are being advised to use alternate routes. Traffic is being controlled on Highway 43.
One helicopter, one hand crew, two forest service engines and volunteer fire departments from Wise River, Wisdom and Dillon are responding.
