Montana State came away with a big time win in the most exciting game of 2012. It certainly proved to be the wild wild west as the Bobcats beat new Big Sky Conference member UC Davis 48 to 41 Saturday.
The Bobcats were the first ones on the board after Orenzo Davis weaved his way in from 35 yards out to give MSU a 7-0 lead. But UC Davis answered just about everytime through out the evening. After tying the ball game at 7 a piece, MSU saw their lead grow to 31-14 at half time. But the Aggies came out strong in the 3rd quarter tying the ball game up after 3 consecutive scores capped off by Jordan Glass' interception return for a touchdown to bring the game all square at 31.
The game came down to the 4th quarter, when trailing 41-38, Montana State defensive lineman and preseason All-American Zach Minter made the play of the game with an interception to give the Cats the ball inside Davis' own 5 yard line. Tray Robinson made the Aggies pay with a rumble in for the score to give MSU a 45-41 lead as the Cats went on to hold off UC Davis 48-41.
Montana State remains unbeaten on the season at 6-0 while UC Davis moves to 2-4 this year.
