Fires in central Idaho flared up this afternoon ahead of a dry cold front sending considerable smoke into SW Montana and producing unhealthy air quality conditions tonight.
A visible satellite image from the National Weather Service this afternoon clearly shows the smoke fanning out from Hamilton to Butte and just north of Bozeman.
Winds should be increasing this evening and into Friday, in fact, wind gusts 40 to 50 mph are possible ahead and just behind a cold front which will improve air quality conditions for some areas and worsen air quality for others.
