On Wednesday, the House Human Services Committee will hear the first medical marijuana bills of the session.

Currently, medical marijuana is legal in Montana but punishable under federal law.

Democratic sponsor Kelly McCarthy of Billings will present four bills that would strike unconstitutional sections of current law that apply to caregivers.

He says these bills would allow the legislature to settle the problems out of court.

"Rather than just fighting it in court and wasting people's time and money on it, lets just fix the law and move on."

Meanwhile, the House Education Committee will consider a bill that would redirect lottery revenue from the state's general fund to the school facility and technology account.

The bill would provide money for schools to improve technology, become more energy efficient and cover maintenance costs.
