UPDATE: Williston murder suspect caught in Billings

UPDATE - Authorities have captured the man suspected of killing another man in Williston, North Dakota over the weekend.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, Yellowstone County law enforcement received a tip that Peter Horvath had been spotted near Billings.

Montana Highway Patrol and deputies with the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office took Horvath into custody around 1:15 p.m.

The tip authorities received Monday morning led them to a trailer home on Danford Road near Interstate 90. After questioning the occupant, authorities determined the suspect was not in the home at that time but believed he would return shortly.

Just before 1 p.m., the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office received a call that Horvath had returned to the home and left on foot. Agencies including Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office, Montana Highway Patrol, Laurel Police Department, US Marshals Office and the City/County Special Investigative Unit set up a parameter in the area and began searching on foot.

Horvath was spotted running in a field to the south of the area being searched. A MHP trooper responded and a short foot pursuit began and Horvath surrendered.

Horvath was wanted for criminal endangerment and murder. He fled Williston after allegedly shooting and killing Derrick Spiegel, 28, early Saturday morning outside of a strip club.

According to the Williston Police Department, Horvath recently moved to the Williston area from Sandpoint, Idaho.

Peter Horvath, 46, was arrested at around 1:15 p.m. Monday after he fled law enforcement officers on foot. He was apprehended in a field just west of South 56th Street West near the Frontage Road.

Horvath is wanted for criminal endangerment and murder. He fled Williston after allegedly shooting and killing Derrick Spiegel, 28, early Saturday morning.

The suspect is originally from Sandpoint, Idaho and recently moved to Williston.
