BOZEMAN - Police have released more details about a Monday morning shooting at a northwest Bozeman residence that left two people dead.

While they are still not releasing the identities of the victims, police say a 32-year-old woman is dead from a gunshot wound to the chest and a 31-year-old man is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in what they are investigating as a murder-suicide, according to a press release issued Monday afternoon. Police are not yet releasing their identities pending notification of their family members.

A high-powered rifle and a handgun were found at the scene, Bozeman Lt. Steve Crawford said. There was one round fired from each and it appears they were fired by the same person, Crawford said.

The shooting took place in a bedroom in the three-bedroom condo. While we know the exact address of this morning's shooting on Warbler Way in Bozeman, we are honoring a request from police to not yet release it until the families of the victims can be notified.

The call came in at 7:07 a.m. this morning. Two other people were in the residence on Warbler Way at the time; one of them, a roommate, called police to say that there was a domestic disturbance then they heard a noise like a "pop" or a gunshot, according to police.

We will continue to update this story as we receive more information.
