The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office has identified the deputy killed in a climbing accident Monday morning as John "Amos" Ridenour.
According to a press release, Ridenour had been with the Sheriff's Office since 2005.
Sheriff Gootkin will be holding a press conference this afternoon. KBZK reporter Judy Slate will be there and have a report at 5:30 p.m.

We have confirmed that the man killed in Monday morning's climbing accident was a Gallatin County Sheriff's deputy. Authorities are not releasing any other details at this time regarding the man's identity.
BOZEMAN - One man is dead following a rock climbing accident in Hyalite Canyon Monday morning.
A Lieutenant with the Gallatin County Sheriff's department told MTN news that a man died after falling while rock climbing. The incident happened shortly after 8:15 a.m.
Initial reports indicate the man fell 50-60 feet from Practice Rock, which is a popular climbing area in the lower Hyalite Canyon.
Emergency crews are still on the scene working to recover the victim's body. We have a reporter there as well and will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
