UPDATE: The man who is in custody accused of starting a series of fires in the Helena area has been identified.
Fredrick J. Maw, 18, was arrested for arson in connection with the Sweats Gulch Complex fires, according to Lewis & CLark County Sheriff Leo Dutton. Maw is also suspected in the Spokane Hills Fire and a fire on Priest Pass last week.
The fires in the Sweat Gulch Complex range in size from one to 200 acres.
Three of the smaller blazes are at or near containment. A 100-acre fire called Hunter Gulch is 40 percent contained and still actively burning.
At this time, no structures are threatened and no evacuations are ordered.
Approximately 160 people are assigned to the fire, including state, county and volunteer fire resources. There are also two Montana Department of Natural Resources & Conservation helicopters assisting in fire suppression efforts.
