A Saturday afternoon fire in downtown Great Falls is considered suspicious in nature.
Just after 3:00 p.m., Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to a call at the Centennial Apartment complex at 210 2nd Street North, next to the YWCA.
Battalion chief Dwane Sutphin says the 911 caller reported the incident and hung up.
The fire was restricted to a basement apartment in the 21 unit complex. No one was injured.
Residents were evacuated and the fire was out in about 10 minutes.
The apartment where the fire originated sustained extensive heat and smoke damage.
All occupants except those in the affected unit were allowed back into their apartments at about 4 p.m.
Two occupants of the complex, a man and a woman, were taken into custody in connection with the fire which remains under investigation.
We'll continue to follow this story as it develops.
