Senior defensive end Caleb Schreibeis and sophomore all-purpose threat Shawn Johnson earned ROOT Sports Big Sky Player of the Week honors for their efforts in Montana State's 65-30 win over Portland State on Saturday.
Schreibeis, a Billings West product, turned in a spectacular effort Saturday, logging two sacks among his seven tackles, forcing a pair of fumbles. The first fumble, recovered by Brad Daly, led to the first Bobcat touchdown of the afternoon. Schreibeis now leads the nation with seven forced fumbles in 2012, also a Bobcat school record. MSU held the Vikings to just four first downs and 18 passing yards in the first half.
Johnson, from Bakersfield, Calif., returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown Saturday. That return for a score was MSU's first since 2007, when Kory Austin did so. He finished the game with 155 all-purpose yards, including a 54-yard pass reception for a touchdown.
