A pair of standout Montana State football players earned one of the sport's highest honors Thursday when the College Sports Information Directors of America named Tanner Bleskin and Caleb Schreibeis, both native Montanans, to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 Football Team.
Bleskin, one of the Big Sky Conference's leading receivers, carries a 3.90 grade point average in Microbiology. The Great Falls CMR graduate has a team-high 53 catches for 687 yards and three touchdowns this season, helping lead the Bobcats to the top of the Big Sky in total offense.
Schreibeis, from Billings West, has been a destructive force from his defensive end position. He has 28 tackles, but of those 11 are behind the line of scrimmage, and nine are sacks. He has tied a school record with five forced fumbles, and has hurried the quarterback seven times and broken up one other pass. Schreibeis holds a 3.38 grade point average in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
The two advance to the national ballot, where they contend with players from the seven other regions for Academic All-America honors.
