GREAT FALLS - Two men charged in an alleged assault that left one man unconscious, made their initial appearance in court on Tuesday.
Adam Elkboy and Shannon Spottedeagle are each charged with felony aggravated assault and robbery.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the parking lot of Opportunities Incorporated on 9th Street North for a report of an assault.
According to court documents, police found a man beaten in the doorway of the building; he was reportedly not breathing and had no heartbeat.
Court documents state that EMS crews were able to regain a heartbeat and took the victim to Benefis hospital; the 41-year-old man, whose name has not been released, is currently in the intensive care unit.
Police were told by a witness that two men were punching and kicking the man until he was unconscious.
The witness then reported the men went through the victim's pockets.
Police officers found Spottedeagle and Elkboy one block away from the scene, both matching the witness's description and with fresh cuts on their hands.
According to court documents, Spottedeagle admitted to punching and kicking the victim and said Elkboy joined him.
Elkboy has a criminal history of violent offenses including aggravated assault and his bail was set at $150,000.
Spottedeagle's bail was set at $100,000.
