With many of us hitting the roads over the next 36 hours, a Winter Weather Advisory might make conditions a little more challenging.
Light snow is expected to move into the region Sunday night through Monday afternoon. The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Gallatin, Madison, and Beaverhead Counties through Monday evening. The latest model data this morning suggests 1-3" of new snow possible in the lower valleys, 3-5" in the higher valleys, and 4-8" possible in the mountains.
Anyone with travel plans in the near future should be prepared to encounter winter driving conditions with snow and ice covered roadways. On top of the snow, temperatures will plummet during the daylight hours on Monday to low teens by sunset. Overnight Christmas eve into Christmas day, temperatures will drop well below the zero mark, afternoon highs struggling into the 20's on Christmas day.
Looks like many of us will be getting that White Christmas this year, even if it is a chilly one. Tune in tonight, I will have the latest winter weather and travel information at 530, and 10. See you soon!
