CONDON - A salvage harvest is being proposed for near where the Condon Mountain Fire burned last year, with the Swan Lake Ranger District work being proposed for about 583 acres.
Forest officials say they hope to "recover merchantable wood fiber affected by the Condon Mountain Fire in a timely manner," and that the work would help the local timber industry.
The Condon Mountain Fire was sparked by a lightning last July and burned about 5,500 acres before being contained in October.
There will be a two week scoping/comment period on the Condon Mountain Fire Salvage Project. To have your input included in the U.S. Forest Service analysis, please provide comments by Friday, April 26. The proposal is available online, from the Swan Lake Ranger District Office in Bigfork, or by calling (406) 837.7500.
