VICTOR - The Montana Highway Patrol says seat belts saved the lives of those involved in a three-vehicle accident near Victor Thursday afternoon.
MHP says a pickup was traveling south on Highway 93, when the driver slowed to a stop in the left hand lane, turning left into Axman Propane. A utility vehicle then struck the truck from behind at highway speed, pushing the pickup in the other lane. An SUV traveling north on Highway 93 struck the pickup, causing the SUV to roll multiple times.
Two people in the SUV and one person in the Utility truck were transported to area hospitals. MHP says the injuries are serious, but they are expected to be okay.
MHP says all three vehicles were totaled.
All four lanes of Highway 93 near Victor were shutdown for an hour and 45 minutes. Traffic was rerouted to Victor Crossing.
An MHP official said the outcome could have been much worse, even fatal, if the occupants were not wearing their seat belts.
