BILLINGS - As soon as it was known Denny Rehberg would challenge Jon Tester for the U.S. Senate most observers felt it would be a close race. After the June primary when it was known that Rehberg would challenge Tester, polls showed a race too close to call. With just a few days to go before election day the race remains too close to call.

Politico ranks Montana's Senate race as the most competitive and number one race to watch on Tuesday. Today Rasmussen polling group shows the race as too close to call.

The Montana Senate race remains a near tie as Election Day nears, with incumbent Democrat Jon Tester now ahead by one point.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Montana Voters finds Tester with 49% support to 48% for his Republican challenger, Congressman Denny Rehberg. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and another two percent (2%) are undecided.
