A one vehicle accident on Friday lands one teen in the hospital and minutes later another teen is arrested for a DUI.

On Friday, a Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement Officer was patrolling on South Montana Street near the interstate ramp when he noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, according to Capt. Doug Conway. The officer followed the vehicle onto Interstate 90 heading east. The driver took the next exit onto Harrison Avenue near Dewey Boulevard. The driver lost control and wrecked the vehicle on the exit ramp around 11p.m.

The 19-year-old male driver was the only passenger in the vehicle. He damaged a nearby fence and was transported to St. James Healthcare for treatment. He has since been released. The accident is under investigation for possible DUI. No arrest was made.

While officers were investigating the accident a dodge pick-up truck nearly struck an ambulance on the scene, according to Conway. Officers pursued the vehicle. After speaking with the driver they initiated a DUI investigation. Donavan Halverson, 19, is charged with a misdemeanor DUI.
