Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens are looking for whoever killed three elk late last week in the Hay Canyon area of Ratio Mountain north of Whitehall.

The elk - one cow, one spike bull, and one bull calf - were shot and left to rot. All three elk were found lying close to one another only about 50 yards from a road.

FWP officials are calling this a senseless slaughter of wildlife. At least 10 elk have been killed and purposely left to waste this year in FWP District Three.

Anyone with information pertaining to this case, or other cases in which fish and wildlife resources are being stolen from Montanans, is urged to call (800) TIP-MONT and may be eligible for a reward. Individuals may call Warden Justin Gibson at (406) 439-4017.
