GREAT FALLS - At least two people have been taken into custody following a tense stand-off involving the Great Falls Police Department on Monday morning.
The incident began sometime before 7 am. at a house near the intersection of Second Avenue North and Ninth Street.
Police surrounded the house and blocked off Ninth Street between Second Avenue North and Third Avenue North.
Several of the officers had guns drawn.
Several homes in the immediate have been asked to evacuate, and the Great Falls Community Recreation Center and the Heisey Youth Center were placed on lockdown.
Several people in the area reported that they heard several gunshots.
At about 10:13 a.m., two people - a man and a woman - came out of the house with their hands raised.
Several minutes later, a "flash bang" device was used by police at or near the rear of the house; the explosion blew out a front window of the house.
We do not yet know if anyone was injured. Police have not yet provided any information about what triggered the stand-off.
