Five state parks located in South Central Montana, in Bighorn and Yellowstone Counties, are now under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions effective immediately.
The new restrictions are in place for the Tongue River Reservoir, Rosebud Battlefield, Chief Plenty Coups, Pictograph Cave and Yellowstone River state parks.
Tongue River Reservoir State Park, Chief Plenty Coups State Park and Pictograph Cave State Park are under a Stage 1 Fire Restriction with an exemption allowing campfires in designated steel fire grates only.
Propane and LPG camp stoves are allowed.
Smoking is not allowed except in enclosed vehicles or developed sites clear of all flammable materials.
Rosebud Battlefield State Park and Yellowstone River State Parks are under a Stage 1 Fire Restriction: all campfires and open flames are prohibited. Smoking is not allowed.
Lake Elmo State Park has no Stage 1 Fire Restrictions because it is within the Billings city limits
