BILLINGS - After opening it's Billings facility in May, CASS Homes, the company that builds modular homes, appears to be struggling.
One employee tells Q2 News that company officials broke the news to workers just before 2 p.m. Friday that - while the company does have work to complete - no future contracts are signed.
And with that, between 30 to 40 workers were laid off Friday with more layoffs expected next week.
CASS Homes, which stands for Canadian American Structured Solutions took over the Suttons Sportswear Warehouse on Gable Road this spring.
The company builds modular homes, serving the Bakken oil fields in eastern Montana and North Dakota.
Q2 understands that workers were told today that callbacks are a possibility in the near future, but right now, nothing is for certain.
As recent as this week, the company was still accepting job applications. Q2 has reached out to CASS Homes for comment but attempts to contact company officials on Friday's layoffs were unsuccessful.
