The number of men who have been sexually assaulted in their life is much higher than the number of men who report it. That's according to the author of the book, "A Dance with Shadows".
Eric Adreon, a student and mentor at Montana Tech, says we live in a society where it's not socially acceptable to talk about a man being sexually assaulted.
Adreon was sexually assaulted twice in in his life.
He later suffered with addiction as well as emotional and mental issues.
Adreon published a book this year about his experiences called "A Dance with Shadows".
He wrote the book for himself and for others who need to hear it.
When he first started to talk about the abuse in his life, he discovered there were many people who needed to talk about it.
"Walk past the bias," Adreon said. "Walk past the fear and the shame and know that if you have the strength and the courage to tell one person about it that that will build and you can heal from the experience."
Adreon is in his fifth year at Montana Tech training to be an addictions counselor. He lives in Butte with his family and two children.
