ROUNDUP - A lightning strike reportedly sparked a fire at an oil storage tank near Roundup Sunday night.
Reports of severe weather caused flames north of Roundup around 8 p.m. Sunday evening.
The Roundup Department of Emergencies reported on its Facebook page that lightning hit an oil storage tank north of Roundup at around 8 p.m. It went on to say "[The tank] is on fire, Musselshell County Rural, Petroulem county are on scene. Looks like tank and structure to the west and south of the intersection for 87 N and Shipp Road."
Jeff Gates, Musselshell DES Director, said it was not as major as first suspected. Fire crews were working to extinguish the flames.
An hour after the flames began, Roundup DES posted once again on the page saying "We have numerous resources on the fire and they are getting it contained."
