BUTTE - A sentencing was rescheduled Thursday afternoon for a homeless man charged with tampering with physical evidence in a homicide case over a year ago.
David Patrick Newbold was originally charged with deliberate homicide in October 2011, according to court documents. Newbold and another homeless man, Shane Hans, were charged with killing Teddy James Hildebrant from Anaconda.
Hildebrant's body was found north of the Butte Civic Center. He suffered blunt force injuries to the head.
Hans was charged with felony mitigated deliberate homicide in early May.
Newbold's charges were amended in September 2012 to tampering with evidence. Court documents allege he tried to "alter, conceal or remove bloody clothes from his body."
The state requested to postpone Thursdays' sentencing to continue the pre-sentence investigation. Newbold is scheduled to appear in court next Thursday morning.
