HELENA - The Senate is expected to debate a bill on Friday that would require anonymous political groups to disclose the fact that they are anonymous.
House Bill 254 would require all campaign mailers paid for by anonymous donors to state: "This communication is funded by anonymous sources. The voter should determine the veracity of its content."
This bill passed out of the House and was stuck in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Senator Cliff Larsen of Missoula blasted the bill out of committee on Thursday, and it will be up for a vote tomorrow.
The topic of dark money political groups has taken center stage in the Senate this session. Lawmakers are expecting a spirited debate on the floor.
