Schreibeis and Perez Earn Conference Player of the Week Awards

BOZEMAN - Montana State Defensive End Caleb Schreibeis and Kicker Rory Perez earned themselves player of the week accolades after their performances in the 16-7 victory over Montana this past weekend. Schreibeis, winning the defensive player of the week award for the second consecutive week, hauled in a career-high 16 tackles, a sack, 1.5 tackles for loss and two pass breakups on Saturday. A finalist for the Buchanan award, Schreibeis helped the Cats defense shut out Montana in the second half. The senior also leads the nation in forced fumbles with seven and has 12 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss.

Rory Perez was named special teams player of the week after accounting for 10 of MSU's 16 points Saturday. The junior from Moreno Valley, CA nailed 3 field goals from distances of 42, 38, and a crucial 22 yarder with 2:32 left in the game to give Montana State a two score lead. A punter as well, Perez averaged 43 yards on 9 punts in front of the largest crowd to ever witness a sporting event in Montana history. Over 26,000 fans crammed into Washington Grizzly stadium on Saturday as the Cats were able to bring home the Great Divide Trophy along with a Big Sky Conference title.
