Registration for the Northern Rodeo Association started on Thursday at the Copper King Hotel and Convention Center in Butte.
More than 90 adult contestants registered and 40 more contestants, kids 14 and under, will register Friday. The NRA will bring in more than 130 contestants to The Mining City to compete during the weekend.
Three contestants are from the Butte area, one is Lacey Davidson who registered Thursday to compete in women's breakaway roping.
"It's actually really cool being hometown," Davidson said. "There's not a lot of cowboys in this area so it's really cool to represent the city and be here for the finals."
Kevin Clark from Ramsay had the opportunity to register Thursday for men's tie down roping.
"I feel really good about representing the area," Clark said. "It's good to compete in front of your hometown and people that your grew up with and that you knew growing up. They can come and give you a chance to watch you and cheer you on and it really makes you feel good."
