BUTTE - Rob Johnson wasn't unemployed for long.
The Butte native and the St. Louis Cardinals agreed to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training today. This will be Rob's fourth team since entering the big leagues in 2004. He made previous stops in Seattle, San Diego, and most recently in New York with the Mets.
Johnson will likely be used as a third catcher, similar to his role in New York, meaning that he would be recalled to the Cardinals in case of an injury to their two major league catchers.
Johnson's 2012 campaign ended in August with a torn ligament in his thumb, which is now healed.
