Authorities are seeking at least one person who led a Lewis & Clark County Sheriff's Deputy on a high speed chase Friday night on the east side of MacDonald Pass.

According to Undersheriff Dave Rau, just after 7:00 pm, a deputy was returning to Helena from Warm Springs.

On the east side of the pass, he noticed a 1997 gold Lexus with tinted windows approaching at a high rate of speed.

When the driver, believed to be a male, noticed the deputy, he sped up and led the deputy on a chase at about 100 miles per hour.

Officers were able to stop the car near the Broadwater Athletic Club. However, when they ordered him to leave the vehicle, he sped off again.

Helena police were alerted and spike strips were deployed at the intersection of Garrison and Euclid.

The car went south on Garrison and was later found abandoned near Mount Helena.

Authorities confirm the vehicle with Oregon plates was stolen from the Portland area.
