BILLINGS - An arrest was made on Friday in connection with two recent home invasions and assaults in Billings that hospitalized two nuns and injured another woman.
Authorities have now confirmed the two incidents that took place on 11th Street West and Gregory Drive, are connected based on evidence uncovered during the investigation.
The man arrested today was 32-year-old Christopher Pine of Billings, who was taken into custody early Friday morning. Pine is charged with aggravated burglary and robbery.
It was tips and leads from the public that lead to Pine's arrest.
After the Billings Police Department released surveillance photos, detectives made contact with a person of interest. Although Pine is not one of the people featured in those images it did lead officers to serve a search warrant at the Lewis and Clark Inn on 1st Avenue North.
While they were attempting to execute that search warrant, Pine pulled up in a vehicle stolen from the home invasion on 11th Street West.
Despite Pine's arrest, the investigation continues and more arrests are likely.
Lieutenant Kevin Iffland believes due to the fact the victims were elderly and two were nuns, it generated more leads.
"You know, I would hope to think that no matter who the victim is, people would call in. But I think it was an attention grabber and did get people more interested," Iffland said. "We did pursue some very good tips that did come in on that."
Police say further details, along with Pine's photo will be released at a later time to prevent any interference with the ongoing investigation.
