MISSOULA - The man who is accused of breaking into a woman's house in the middle of the night 10 years ago and raping her, has pleaded guilty to the crime.
Kenneth Edward Whatley of Arizona has admitted to a rape charge, after DNA evidence tied him to a 2003 rape in Missoula.
Prosecutors say Whatley crawled through the kitchen window of a home in the 300 block of North Grove Street in the middle of the night and raped a woman.
The victim didn't know the man and couldn't see his face, after being raped, the woman was tied up.
The man left, but he forgot his baseball cap. The Montana State Crime Lab ran the DNA from that cap through a FBI database and recently got a "hit" that matched the DNA profile of Whatley, who is a convicted offender from Flagstaff.
