ANACONDA - Pintler Pets, a humane society in Anaconda is asking the council of commissioners to rewrite a contract that states they shall take in all adoptable animals.

Candy Burch, vice president of Pintler Pets, does not consider all animals adoptable. An adoptable animal is one you can pet without fear of being bitten or harmed, Burch said.

The shelter has taken in more feral cats in the last year than ever before. Feral cats bring disease and accommodating the animals is a challenge.

The shelter has had to cover the cost of medical bills for feral cats and the disease they spread to healthy cats. Representatives of Pintler Pets should have the right to say whether they will or will not adopt an animal, Burch said.

"It gives the other cats that can be adopted a chance to get adopted," Burch said.

Donations to cover the cost of medical bill, cat food and litter can be sent to P.O. Box 1204, Anaconda, MT 59711. Volunteers are always welcome at Pintler Pets. The shelter can be contacted at (406)563-7464.
