Pertussis cases increasing in Anaconda

Anaconda-Deer Lodge Pubic Health Department has confirmed 11 causes of Pertussis, or Whopping cough, according to Heidi Nielson, director of the health department.

Nearly 300 people have been exposed to the illness in Anaconda, according to Nielson. Monday more test results were sent to the state health department. By Tuesday the number of confirmed whooping cough cases may increase.

Officials at the Anaconda-Deer Lodge Public Health Department encourage everyone to get vaccinated. Vaccinations for whooping cough, chicken pox and the flu are always available. If you feel sick stay home and avoid people who are actively ill.
