BOZEMAN - Mrs. Pacman was there. So was a big hairy bison. Then, as if the day couldn't get any stranger, they and more than 100 others, jumped into a chilly pond in the middle of February.

Although it may sound odd, this was just business as usual at the annual President's Day Plunge to benefit Special Olympics.

Some of the participants were in costume. Some wore their swimsuits. Others just jumped in while wearing their clothes. After splashing into a hole cut in the ice on the East Gallatin Recreation Area pond, they scurried out of the water and up to a hot tub waiting nearby to warm up.

More than 100 people plunged into the icy water to the cheers of onlookers and other participants.

More than $30,000 was raised during the Bozeman event. Donations are still being accepted on the Special Olympics Montana website.
