MISSOULA - One person was taken to the hospital after an early morning fire in Missoula.
Missoula City Fire Assistant Chief Chad Nicholson says firefighters they were called to a blaze in the 2400 block of Skyline Drive at around 3:15 a.m. and arrived to find a home fully engulfed in flames.
Fire crews initially protected exposures and initiated a defensive fire attack, with Nicholson noting that strong and gusty winds increased the intensity of the fire and also made it harder for crews to fight the blaze.
One person was hurt in the fire and was taken to St. Patrick Hospital to be treated and evaluated. Meanwhile, the Red Cross is helping the family find temporary housing.
Fire investigators still trying to determine what sparked the fire, and crews are expected to be on the scene mopping up for most of Monday morning.
This is the second time in less than 24 hours that a home has been hit by a fire in the Rattlesnake.
