LIVINGSTON - The Grannis Fire near Livingston was human-caused, according to Captain Drew Beattie of Park County Rural Fire District 1.
The Montana State Fire Marshal's Office investigated the 300-acre fire and determined it to be human-caused, Beattie said Monday.
The fire is under control, but crews are continuing to monitor it.
The Grannis Fishing Access Site on the Shields River is closed due the fire, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The site will remain closed to the public until fire investigators have cleared the site and it is assessed whether there is a need to remove potentially hazardous trees. However, it is expected to open within a week.
The fire was initially reported shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, April 26 in the Grannis area northeast of Livingston.
