Scam artists are targeting NorthWestern Energy customers.

Scammers are calling customers claiming to be a billing representative, according to Lori St. Abuin, manager of revenue cycle for NorthWestern Energy. They will ask for social security numbers, banking information or credit card numbers.

The number of callers has been increasingly aggressive, St. Abuin said. Customers are encouraged to identity who they are speaking with before giving out any information. If at any time you are unsure about who you are talking to disconnect the call and contact NorthWestern Energy.

"Whenever we contact a customer or whenever you call into our customer service center we clearly identify ourselves as NorthWestern Engery," St.Abuin said.

You can reach the NorthWestern Energy Customer Service Center at 1-888-467-2696.
