The non profit group, Friends of the Story Mansion, still wants to buy the Mansion. This comes after Bozeman's Mayor says its time to put the property on the market.
Earlier this week Mayor Sean Becker told City Commissioners that the City has waited long enough for the non profit to come up with the money to purchase the Mansion. The group says they had secured the nearly $400,000 to close the deal. That money has since fallen through. Now Friends of the Story wants the City to give them more time to raise the cash. And they say given the Mansion has been around for a hundred years, a few more years won't make a difference.
"If it takes another year or 2 to come up with the funding to purchase it or as we've proposed a 6 year contract for deed purchase with the city, 50 years from now that's not going to seem like much to the community." said Friends of the Story Mansion Chairman of the Board of Directors Andy Epple.
The City bought the Story Mansion 10 years ago for $1.3 million.
