No charges filed against woman who shot boyfriend

WHITEFISH - No charges have been filed against a woman who fatally shot her boyfriend at the beginning of this month.

Authorities say Katherine Lanegan shot Ordean EngeBretson, 42, multiple times in the chest at EngeBreton's home on Colorado Avenue in Whitefish.

Neighbors reported hearing yelling and at least one gunshot around 9:30 pm on Feb. 2.

According to police, Lanegan ran to a neighbor's house and told them she had killed EngeBretson.

Lanegan was released from jail the night after the shooting.

The case remains with the Flathead County Attorney's Office.
