BOZEMAN - Pierre Martineau was sworn in Monday morning in front of more than a dozen officials, officially beginning his term as the third Gallatin County Commissioner.
Martineau, of West Yellowstone, was voted the newest commissioners by a 2-0 vote back in June. The Gallatin County GOP submitted three names to the two current commissioners, Steve White and Joe Skinner. Martineau was the only of the three recommendations that received a 2-0 vote.
Martineau has lived in West Yellowstone since 1982. He retired from the service industry in 2000 and since then, he has become involved in local politics, including service on the West Yellowstone City Council and the West Yellowstone Foundation.
Martineau takes over the seat vacated by former commissioner Bill Murdoch. He will serve the rest of Murdoch's term through the end of 2014. Martineau says he will not run for re-election in the fall of 2014.
