A symbolic ground breaking took place for a new building that will educate Montana children with complex behavioral and emotional needs.
A 3 million dollar state of the art building will provide future growth for children with complex behavioral and emotional needs.
AWARE Inc is building this Center for Excellence and will provide innovative programs to children.
This will allow Montana children and to stay close to their support system.
AWARE Incorporated CEO Larry Noonan says, "If that program wasn't there they would be going out of state. They'd end up in Utah and other places which really has as many negatives to it as positives. The big point of this program is the number of kids it keeps in the state."
The center will provide Autism services in Anaconda for the first time.
"We're really proud of being in the vanguard of developing services for kids with Autism in the state. This program becomes a part of that," adds Noonan.
The AWARE Center for Excellence building would employ up to 120 people.
There are currently 90 employees.
It would educate up to 40 children compared to 30 students using the program now.
Anaconda Deer Lodge County has already installed a sewer system and roads at the site.
The AWARE Center for Excellence should be complete by August.
