If you drive on the east end of Bozeman, you will see the Blue Sky motel is being torn down. It's being demolished to make room for a brand new building.

The current motel is off of East Main and Cypress. Once demolition is complete, work will begin on a new building known as Park Place. This 3 story structure will have a multi-use opportunity, including the top two floors being used for housing, a big part of the reason the city supported this project.

"That's an important component because the downtown improvement plan calls for increased residential density in that sort of downtown court. So this building will provide 2 floors of that type of development in addition to the retail office at the base. So it's really an improvement from the existing facility," says Economic Development Director for the City Brit Fontenot.

The new building is expected to be complete by late this summer.
