GREAT FALLS - A teenager has been charged with negligent homicide in the 2010 death of a Malta teen.
Logan Wilson, 16, of Malta was shot while hunting with Emmitt Boschee and Jessen LaFond on Oct. 23, 2010. Now, Boschee is charged with negligent homicide. The new charge was filed against Boschee in Phillips County Youth Court.
Court documents indicate that Boschee, now 17, changed his story several times. Initially, both LaFond and Boschee told investigators that Wilson shot himself.
Boschee later admitted that the bullet came from his gun, but he claimed the rifle discharged after a fall.
According to a statement from LaFond's mother, Boschee could not have fallen because her son saw him standing upright immediately after the shot was fired.
On yet another occasion, Boschee, who was 50 to 60 yards away from Wilson and LaFond, told Phillips County Sheriff's deputies that he was "scoping" his hunting partners when the fatal shot was accidentally fired.
If convicted, Boschee faces incarceration until he's 18, and he could be on probation until he's 25.
Boschee and LaFond previously received probation on charges of felony obstruction of justice.
