BOZEMAN - Two incidents of rape have been reported in three days to MSU police. Both victims claim they were assaulted at Frat Houses.
"It's a little freaky," Kayla, an MSU student said in reaction to the news. "Makes me not want to walk around in the dark...never be alone."
The first reported rape happened at the Phi Kappa Alpha house or PIKE on Friday, September 13th. It was only reported on Sunday, September 15th.
Phi Kappa Alpha Brother Nolan Albrecht said, "Obviously I was very surprised."
According to an email sent to the MSU community on Monday, the victim told police that she was partying with a man that she knew. She said she thought she was drugged and had been sexually assaulted at the PIKE house.
PIKE members met with the Dean of Students, Dr. Matt Caires, on Monday.
"We are going to work very closely to find out what happened...being very transparent...what actually happened," Albrecht said.
The second rape allegedly took place at the Sigma Chi house in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 15th.
"We have, because of the seriousness of the allegations, issued interim suspension for both frats," Dean Caires said.
This means that neither frat can participate in any activities. Meanwhile, the Dean of Students is hopeful that the investigations will help the university.
"Gain insight...under the influence," Caires said.
MSU police are investigating both cases. We will continue to update these stories as more information becomes available.
