BOZEMAN - A Montana State University student is behind bars accused of hitting another man with a motorcycle helmet after they got into an argument on campus.
Erik Isaacson, 24, is being held in the Gallatin County Detention Center on $2,000 bail following a hearing before Judge Bryan Adams in Gallatin County Justice Court. He's charged with assault with a weapon. Isaacson, a senior at MSU, is from Anaconda.
According to court documents, at around 11:45 p.m. March 30, seven people approached an MSU officer to report that they had been attacked by Isaacson and one of them had been hit in the head with a motorcycle helmet.
The alleged victim said he was standing with the six other people in the Roskie Hall parking lot when Isaacson approached them and began discussing "controversial topics." The alleged victim said he made a comment to Isaacson that upset him and that's when Isaacson reportedly hit him in the head with the helmet.
Police contacted Isaacson who reportedly admitted that he hit the other man with the helmet.
Court documents state that it was determined that Isaacson did not act in self defense.
