MSU student accidentally discharges gun in campus parking lot

MSU Police Chief Robert Putzke tells MSU News Service that a Montana State University student accidentally discharged a round from his gun into the pavement of the North Hedges parking lot.

A passerby heard the shot and called police around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. Police responded, and saw a person carrying a gun in a case and questioned them. He admitted to accidentally shooting off the round.

The student is reportedly a hunter and the weapon is used for hunting. No charges are being filed.
