HELENA - Two mountain lion sightings have been reported inside the Helena city limits of the south hills.
According to reports, the first was was seen stalking a woman who was jogging on Monday morning.
A hiker reported the second sighting on Monday afternoon.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks' game wardens responded to the call, which was reported in the area of Gold Rush Avenue and Virginia Dale Street.
Brenna White of FWP said, "It does sound like a lion was potentially stalking a woman that was jogging with her headphones on. There were some lawn service men that were working on a lawn that did spot it and they called it in. We haven't been able to locate the lion, unfortunately, but we encourage people to just use precaution when recreating in that area."
White notes that FWP relocated a large black bear on Monday that was captured in the Montana City area.
She warns against leaving garbage out as well as barbecues, as this is the time of year bears become active before hibernation.
She also says it's a good idea to carry bear spray.
