Following the breaking news about the explosions today, reporters from MTN were able to get more information about area runners competing in the Boston Marathon.
After speaking with the Bozeman Running Company this afternoon, Adam Bell reported that local runners Matt and Laurie Edwards, Nick and Josh Ricardi, and Andy Garza are all OK.
News Director John Sherer spoke to Bozeman runner Heidi Johnson-Fry - she did not go to today's race.
Bozeman's Dr Mellissa Casper's office tells us she is OK.
One other runner from Bozeman did not start, 3 finished about the time of the explosion, 5 finished well in advance of the explosion.
A Missoula runner not able to finish because of an asthma attack and another Missoula runner was registered but did not go.
There were anxious moments from fellow running enthusiasts.
Casey Jermyn, owner of Bozeman Running Company spoke with MTN about today's events.
"It was very shocking, I mean you're talking, kind of watching it..."
Jermyn continued: "We track all the athletes kind of from Montana and see how everyone is doing and you kind of hear it at first, then you're kind of watching it, and it really doesn't set in. You don't really expect something like that with an event like Boston."
CBS News is now reporting there were three killed, 113 wounded.
"Then reality kind of set in and you're like, wow this is really happening and then you're just trying to reach out to as many people that you know and care about and making sure that everyone's okay," Jermyn said.
"Today we've received a lot of phone calls, people kinda reaching out to us from Boston letting us know they're okay."
Via texting, Jermyn and others have been checking in with those in Boston.
"It sounds like the cell phone towers were shut down. Most of the people we talked to already left the finish line area.
"But the good news is the report from the locals out there is all good, that most of them are good. I mean all that we've heard from are okay and just a lot of chaos, lot of craziness, tragic events.
On the Bozeman Running Company Facebook page there were updates from runners as they check in from Boston.
Wendy Newman checked in at the 40K point after the explosion.
There is no finish time for her, so perhaps the race was cancelled about that time and she did not have a chance to finish.
The Belgrade runner Holly Orrell finished more than an hour before the explosions.
The two Butte runners and the Dillon runner finished more than an hour before the explosions.
We will post updates from this developing story as they become available.
